Getting There and Away

The Slovenia-Istria Tour and Grant Tour both starts in Ljubljana. The Dalmatian Coast begins in Split. The tour start time is 5pm, so please plan on arriving via train or plane earlier than this time so we can get you to our first hotel, set your bags down and get started with the tour. Tours starting in Split you will be provided with transfers from Split airport. For tours starting in Ljubljana, you’ll be provided with a transfer from any of these three main pick-up points:

• Brnik airport: the main international airport in Slovenia.
• Ljubljana train station: central train hub that has connections with Vienna, Germany, Venice, Budapest and many other large European cities.
(1 hr from Bled)
• Ljubljana bus station: connections from Germany, Austria & Italy.

It will be your responsibility to get to one of these pick-up points in time for the start of tour. If you plan on arriving at a location not listed above, please let me know. If you are late for whatever reason, it will be your responsibility to get to the meeting point (I will provide you with info on getting a private taxi or shuttle if this is necessary).

At the end of all tours, you’ll be provided with a transfer to either the airport or train station.

My Travel Advice

There are various flights to Ljubljana that connect through major European cities but usually there are few bargains to be had on these flights [Air France, United, US Airways, KLM, Continental]. One option to consider is flying into London or Berlin then use Easyjet, one of the low-cost airlines, to fly into Ljubljana. Both of these cities have daily flights to Ljubljana, though they fly from smaller airports, Stansted and Schoenefeld respectively. Remember, you need to make sure you have time to get a connection and be on time for the start of the tour.

Another option is to fly in and out of Munich. There is a morning train from Munich direct to Jesenice (one of the pickup points). A roundtrip ticket (2nd class) costs about $150. Flights to London, Berlin and Munich are usually less expensive, even with adding the cost of a train or Easyjet flight.

Travel Agent
Because I’m not a travel agent I cannot arrange your airfare, but I’m glad to help out. If you don’t have a travel agent I can personally recommend Jennifer at Travel Team (jennifer@travelteam.com, 206-354-0640)
